Repurposing, Notebooks and More

Using vintage books and stamps, I've put together some notebooks with blank pages. It's amazing what can be done with things people just throw away. The first notebook is about the size of a postcard and has pages of an old book called Shadow of a Bull collaged into the cover with a teapot painted on top of it. I have a thing for the Kawaii food with faces images. The second notebook is an ATC (artist trading card) with stamps collaged into it. Collect those stamps from your mail and you could make a great cover to a sketchbook for yourself!

Momoko Clothes, Dresses & Bows

Recently I was at a local second-hand store and found this darling little handmade bear. I knew it would be perfect with the Momoko dolls. I also finally got my new light box to try out some decent photography without having to wait for natural light and I used it for these photos. Overall, the new magenta gingham tube dress gets a great debut!

I'm still working on bookbinding, but I've just been busy lately.

Repurposing, X-mas Gifts

The post is a week or two late, but Merry X-mas to me! After my crusade to make works of art through repurposing, I have apparently been inspiring people to do some of their own work of this nature, including my mother. Using some old craft supplies she had on hand, she made this elaborate gift for me for X-mas. It is an awesome wall hanging done in latch hook, the design made to look similar to my website. My cat, Myrtle, also makes an appearance in the piece. I've hung it on the wall over my work desk.

Repurposing, Handmade Paper and Paint (Roses)

Using the recycled paper again, I made some smaller versions of the silhouette flowers work I posted about recently. The paintings measure 3-1/2 x 4-3/8 inches. A set of similar images put together on a wall is always nice. This work was made in a set of four. This time crimson acrylic paint was used to make silhouetted roses. In the spirit of repurposing/using recycled materials, a lot of the work is limited to paint I have on hand that will soon dry up and be thrown away anyway.

Repurposing, Handmade Paper and Paint

Old notes from college and acrylic paint can go a long way. At least they do when I make recycled paper and then use it for projects like painting. The first in this series of work is a very similar design to the collage work I did back in October. Making recycled paper is quite enjoyable and makes for unique highly textured paper. I'll be posting some more designs soon.

Interested in making paper like shown? Let me know and I'll post a tutorial on my methods.
