My Momokos at IFDC

The post might be a little later than hoped, but I wanted to cover some lovely Momoko dolls from IFDC (International Fashion Doll Convention) 2011. The first couple images are my rerooted Groovy Baby. I also repainted some parts of her face to fit the platinum blond hair. She was entered in an Emerald City competition and got second place. The third picture is my new Girl's End. She is one of the few Momokos to have real eyelashes and I just had to get her. Last but not least, I picked up a fantastic reroot by Rob of Rob's Dolls. I love her hair! The hair color is apparently a new product.

There will likely be more IFDC pics to come. I kept my Go Home Dorothy and am already developing plenty of clothing designs for her.

Momoko, IFDC 2011 Exclusive

Now that I'm back from IFDC, I wanted to share the new Momoko doll(s) released exclusively at the convention. The first image is the postcard provided by PetWorks at the convention. The last picture is the dolls dressed in a little different clothing not available with purchase. Both Momoko dolls are pretty darling, my favorite being the red-haired one with darker streaks in her hair. They come at a price of 17,000 yen.

Fancy Watering Cans

On a typical day of creativity, I don't usually go for decorating watering cans, but these were a donation to a local art benefit that specifically wanted decorated watering cans. I tried to make them a little more unique than just painting flowers on them. Both projects are fairly cheap to do and I think they make a great artsy piece for your backyard. The gold watering can required fabric/puff paint and gold spray paint. The fabric paint (any color) was used to create an embossed pattern and when finished, I sprayed the gold spray paint over the entire can. The other can was decorated to look like a quilt. It required scrap fabric, acrylic paint, and decoupage. First, I cut out uniform sized squares of the fabric and glued them on the can (checker board style) with the decoupage. After they dried, I painted the remaining areas of the can with paint, let it dry, and put a final coat of decoupage over the entire surface. Voila! Fancy watering cans.

Noticed I haven't posted a whole lot of Momoko doll designs lately? I'm saving them up for debut at IFDC in Las Vegas in a couple weeks. Stay tuned for some great designs.

Repurposing, Notebooks and More

Using vintage books and stamps, I've put together some notebooks with blank pages. It's amazing what can be done with things people just throw away. The first notebook is about the size of a postcard and has pages of an old book called Shadow of a Bull collaged into the cover with a teapot painted on top of it. I have a thing for the Kawaii food with faces images. The second notebook is an ATC (artist trading card) with stamps collaged into it. Collect those stamps from your mail and you could make a great cover to a sketchbook for yourself!

Fan Pics, Part 1

It's fan photo time! Below are some images from patrons of my designs with their own dolls in my works. I love seeing well-dressed dolls, especially when they are my own designs. The first comes from Etsy seller, Glastra. She has her doll, Yori, dressed in my basic blue tube dress that just looks darling on her. The last set of pictures comes from another Etsy seller, Stuffbymichele. Her Barbie-Liv hybrid is wearing the Winter Love outfit, which is certainly one of my favorites. It's great to see how other people set up their dolls in such lovely poses and backgrounds.
