Repurposing, Blue Flowers and Ads

Ever feel like you are just throwing away tons of paper in the form of junk mail? Well, in the spirit of repurposing, I have taken those ads and old magazines and collaged them into this artwork with a silhouette of flowers over it. I picked up the frame at my local Dollar Tree to spice it up a bit. It's a great project that costs very little. I've also started making 100% recycled paper with a similar graphic on it as well.

Interested in this project? See an item list and instructions below.

You'll need: -Old ads/magazines -Old cardstock (as backing) -Decoupage -Frame

Cut out paper and arrange in a desired design on cardstock. It is easiest to do the silhouette last, just placing it over the other collage work. Adhere to cardstock with decoupage and put one final coat of decoupage on top. Let dry and frame.

Momoko Clothes, The Casual Neutrals

Since I took a trip to the coast this weekend, I thought I'd bring a Momoko doll dressed in a new outfit I just made. The pictures were taken at Point Lobos in California. The fabric used for the blouse comes from a human-sized blouse that looks very similar (minus the bow and fancies). The photos came out so wonderfully that I want to go to the coast more often to take pictures of the dolls.

Momoko Clothes, White Blouse

The white blouse pictured is altered from a pattern in a Dolly Dolly pattern book imported from Japan. It was pretty hard to work with thin cotton fabric, but I like the way turned out, mostly with the sleeves pushed up her arms a bit. I think next on the list is going to be tackling another Alice in Wonderland character's outfit. Also, I'm gearing up to start making some prints and other artworks out of repurposed and/or recycled materials. Stay tuned.
