Site for Doll Sales: Mister Dollface

mister dollfaceWith the Doll Page Show and Sell gone, where do we go to sell our dolly things?  Well, it's Mister Dollface.  Just like the Doll Page, this website is free to sell your items.  It certainly beats all the fees associated with selling on eBay.  Browse the great items available on Mister Dollface and help it grow!  It seems to gain more and more users everyday, but your support would be great. I have some of my own items on the page (found here) and will probably add quite a bit more in the coming weeks as I thin out my collection.  I've seen sellers posting all kinds of great things, including one of my grail dolls, the Queen V Veronique Integrity doll (Dolly Bird anniversary exclusive).

Casting Call for New Book

The new book, Dolly Bureau (Vol 3):  All About Tiny Dolls [working title], is underway and this year I'm going to try something a little different with the book.  Instead of being strictly a pattern book, this year the book will highlight all kinds of tiny dolls (11.5cm/4.5in or shorter) with some pattern tutorials, crafts, etc.  In this volume, dolls, crafts, clothing, accessories, etc, will also come from other people, not just MegannArt.

How great would it be to have some of your own dolls or handmade designs in a published book?!  Dolly Bureau books are gaining popularity and would help people notice your work. See below for more information about contributing to the book.

Contributions would include temporary use of the following:

  • All dolls 11.5cm or shorter (e.g. Ruby Red Galleria Honee B, Mattel Kelly, Fairyland PukiPuki and RealPuki, Peak's Woods Monthly Fairy, LillyCat Colline, Wilde Amelia Thimble, Lati White SP, Felix Brownie, Angelregion Gienie Lilica, Doll Leaves Cherry and Milk, Dollzone Yu with B10-001 body and Teng with B10-001 body, HZ Doll tiny dolls like Tian Tian Roro, IslandDoll Leshy, Polly Pocket, Azone Picco Neemo, Mame Momoko, Fidelia Fireflys, vintage dolls, etc).  The list of dolls is endless.
  • Handmade clothing, accessories, wigs, and props that would be appropriate for dolls of about this size.  Items must be made by the contributor.

MegannArt will photograph your items and send them back to you in a timely manner.  Some photos are being considered to include in the book, under certain guidelines.  The deadline for accepted items is mid April 2015.  To those who contribute, credit will be provided in the book.  MegannArt also provides a contract for contributors to guarantee return, credit, and protection of your property.

Cloth Napkins: Two Layers of Fabric

cloth napkin 1 I work with a lot of fabric and have a very large inventory of textiles.  In that big stash, there are quite a few fabrics that I won't use for most of my regular projects.  I found a solution for all those fabrics -- make them into cloth napkins.

cloth napkin 2

However, some of the fabrics are printed/screened, so the back of the napkin would not look quite as nice.  I decided to do two layers of fabric to hide the wrong side of the fabric.  See my basid tutorial below.

cloth napkin 3

Cut out two pieces of fabric to desired size of cloth napkin.  With right sides together, sew a seam around edges of napkin, but leave a small opening to turn inside out.  Clip corners.

cloth napkin 4

After the napkin is turned inside out, press seams.  Top stitch around the entire napkin.  Top stitching an additional line or two through the middle of the napkin is recommended since it will make the napkin sturdy and the fabric will be less likely to shift around with use.

Give napkins another press, if you feel like they need it.  Voila!  A set of cloth napkins ready for a dinner party or everyday use.

Queen Bee on Peak's Woods Lolita Body

A friend of mine recently got a tattoo of a woman dressed in a yellow and black gown. She's called the Queen Bee. She asked if I could make a similar dress for one of her BJDs and I gladly took on the task. Below is the outfit on a Peak's Woods doll with the Lolita body. I think the outfit turned out rather well. Also, I plan on getting back to fashion doll apparel soon, especially Momoko. I miss making all that adorable super tiny clothing.

New Items in the Shop

It's been a while since I've posted some of my new Etsy items.  I've branched out and started doing clothing for a variety of doll types, including a few Tonner dolls and much larger BJDs.  Some Iplehouse ladies have made their way into my office, so there might be quite a few larger designs popping up before you know it. Below are designs on Asleep Eidolon's Peppermint (Lati Yellow size), Ellowyne Wilde (fits MSD BJD), and PukiPuki. Coming up soon will be a post about a special OOAK outfit made for SD BJDs.
